It was a beautiful Friday night in Conrad for the Glasgow Scotties’ final regular season game. With anticipation in the air, the Scotties took the field ready to play hard and finish out the regular season strong. Although this game was non-conference and the Scotties’ playoff position was already secured, the players were still anxious to perform well and win one more game. That they did. The Scotties won, 35-22. With quarterback Jason Thibault and two other offensive linemen sitting this game out, the Scotties had to rely on their vet...

They truly played for each o...
Last Friday night the Scotties traveled to Plentywood to play the Wildcats for an important game. At stake was the District 2B Conference title and the first and second conference seeds for the upcoming playoffs. The winner (first place team) would host the first two rounds of the playoffs and the state championship game, provided they won all their contests. However, the loser of the game would basically be on the road for the entire playoff scenario. The Scotties have had a tough time earning...
Figures compiled from the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 6 game check station outside Havre for the weekends of Oct. 12-13 and Oct. 19-20 show reduced hunter numbers overall, but increased harvest of some upland birds and waterfowl. “Over the first two weekends of the season, harvest for most species has been down,” said Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Havre-area Wildlife Biologist Scott Hemmer. “Antelope numbers and licenses have remained low since the winter of 2010-11, and this fact...

This past weekend Wolf Point came to town to take on the Glasgow Scotties. Not only was it Senior Night for the Scottie cheerleaders, football players, cross country runners and football managers, but it was also a night Glasgow pummeled the Wolves, 58-6, and continued its winning ways. “The main concern I had going into the game after such a convincing win over the Malta Mustangs was continuing to have sharp execution for passing, staying mentally focused, and not to be sloppy in any parts of the game,” head coach Greg Liebelt said. The Sco...

The Scottie volleyball teams traveled to Malta last Thursday, and all three teams came home victorious. The coaches were obviously pleased with the outcome. Varsity coach Lori Dailey said she was particularly proud of what a “solid team effort” her girls put together, especially on the road. “Malta always has a good, rowdy crowd that can force at least a few mental errors each match,” she said. “We were just able to maintain a level of scrappiness that led to a nice win.” The Scottie’s prevailed, beating Malta 25-22, 25-14, 25-16. Saturd...

So close. So close that it could be frustrating. The Glasgow girls cross country team dominated the Frazer meet on Thursday, Sept. 19, finishing one point short of a perfect score. The team placed 10 runners in the top 15 for a total of 16 points. With a perfect score set at 15, the Scotties needed those few extra seconds to make history. The Glasgow Scotties earned a close win over Glendive in four games, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23, at home on Thursday, Sept. 19. The Scotties faced a tough and skilled team and had to fight throughout the entire game to get the victory. Glendive was impressive defensively and effective offensively. The visitors unsurprisingly took the first match as Glasgow would accumulate mistakes and give away several points. “I was not surprised by the quality of Glendive,” coach Lori Dailey said. “I was really pleased by how we played, even if we lost...
