The Glasgow Scottie volleyball girls came away with two more wins in the past week to boost their conference standings to 6-1. The Poplar Indians traveled to Glasgow last Thursday but came up short against a strong Scottie team, losing in three straight sets, 25-13, 25-13, 25-9. The Hi-Line Youth Hockey Team will sponsor a hockey camp led by the Glacier Nationals from Nov. 1 through 3 at the Valley Event Center. The Glacier Nationals are a Junior A Tier III hockey team operating within the American West Hockey League. Swedish professional head coach Joakim Falt, GM/assistant coach Butch Kowalka and goalie coach Josh Steel will be running the three-day camp. The Scottie volleyball teams traveled to Malta last Thursday, and all three teams came home victorious. The coaches were obviously pleased with the outcome. Varsity coach Lori Dailey said she was particularly proud of what a “solid team effort” her girls put together, especially on the road. “Malta always has a good, rowdy crowd that can force at least a few mental errors each match,” she said. “We were just able to maintain a level of scrappiness that led to a nice win.” The Scottie’s prevailed, beating Malta 25-22, 25-14, 25-16. The Glasgow Scottie football team came out of the gates on fire last Friday night against their 2B conference rivals, the Malta Mustangs, and cruised to a decisive 38-6 victory. The Richey/Lambert Fusion came to town last Friday to duel with the Hinsdale/Saco Wildfire, putting their 3-1 conference record on the line. The Glasgow Scotties girls cross country team took first with a score of 39 points in Havre. The boys cross country team placed fifth with 161. The day started out at 5:45 a.m., when the runners boarded the bus and set off to Havre. Homecoming 2013 was a huge success. The Glasgow Scotties took on the Shelby Coyotes and pounded them pretty hard, 42-9. The Scotties were on fire from start to finish. The Nashua Lady Porcupines traveled to Bainville on Saturday to play in a triangular against Richey/Lambert and Bainville. Their first opponent was the Richey/Lambert Fusion. Last weekend the girls’ volleyball team went to Dickinson, N.D., and competed in a 32 -team tournament. On Friday the team went 1-2 – good enough to earn them a spot in the Silver bracket. So close. So close that it could be frustrating. The Glasgow girls cross country team dominated the Frazer meet on Thursday, Sept. 19, finishing one point short of a perfect score. The team placed 10 runners in the top 15 for a total of 16 points. With a perfect score set at 15, the Scotties needed those few extra seconds to make history. The Glasgow Scotties were simply on fire Friday night when they easily defeated Shelby, 42-9, for their homecoming game. The Scotties scored six touchdowns for a total of 331 yards in offense. The Hinsdale/Saco Wildfire traveled to Lustre last Saturday for a triangle volleyball match, first against Lustre Christian and lastly against Culbertson. Wildfire head coach Kathy Siroky had her girls tuned up and in fine form this morning as they faced off against the Lustre Lady Lions in the Lustre gymnasium. The Glacier Nationals, the junior hockey team from Whitefish, will be holding a weekend-long youth camp in Glasgow on Nov. 1 and 2. The training camp will be highlighted by a junior A game against Gillette.
