The Wildfire played hard and fought hard for every point in the district tournament, but they just weren’t in sync and had peaked a month early. It was a joy to watch these young ladies go through the season with their great athleticism and zeal. Coach Kathy Siroky brought them a long way this season. The Glasgow High School Speech and Drama Team competed in the first meet of its season on Saturday in Sidney and came home with a first place Class B drama trophy. Thirteen schools participated in this meet with Glasgow edging out Huntley Project and Baker to take first. The Glasgow Scottie girls cross country team won its fourth consecutive state title with a commanding performance Saturday – minus their top runner all season, Josie Braaten. Rachael Zeiger crossed the finish line first for the Scotties with a time of 20:06, followed by Amanda Wolff in 10th place with a time of 20:13. It was a beautiful Friday night in Conrad for the Glasgow Scotties’ final regular season game. After a challenging cross country meet in Roundup, the Scottie girls and boys teams will compete in the state meet this Saturday, Oct. 26, at Missoula The Scottie varsity girls – the defending state champions – took first at Roundup with 42 points and Colstrip was second with 88. Gonzaga Women’s Rowing made the cut to participate in the prestigious 49th annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston this past weekend and Glasgow’s own Devyn Bell was there. The Hi-Line Youth Hockey Team will sponsor a hockey camp led by the Glacier Nationals from Nov. 1 through 3 at the Valley Event Center. The Glacier Nationals are a Junior A Tier III hockey team operating within the American West Hockey League. The Scottie volleyball teams traveled to Malta last Thursday, and all three teams came home victorious. The coaches were obviously pleased with the outcome. The Glasgow Scottie football team came out of the gates on fire last Friday night against their 2B conference rivals, the Malta Mustangs, and cruised to a decisive 38-6 victory. The Richey/Lambert Fusion came to town last Friday to duel with the Hinsdale/Saco Wildfire, putting their 3-1 conference record on the line. The Glasgow Scotties girls cross country team took first with a score of 39 points in Havre. The boys cross country team placed fifth with 161. The day started out at 5:45 a.m., when the runners boarded the bus and set off to Havre. Homecoming 2013 was a huge success. The Glasgow Scotties took on the Shelby Coyotes and pounded them pretty hard, 42-9. The Scotties were on fire from start to finish.
