The Glasgow eighth grade boys basketball team won two of three games last week. The Scotties lost 57-41 to Scobey but recovered with a 62-31 win over Wolf Point and a 57-35 victory over Sideny. The Scottie boys basketball team improved their record to 3-2, 5-6 overall with two home wins this past week. Glasgow downed the Fairview Warriors 51-36 Jan. 18 and beat the Harlem Wildcats 64-54 Jan. 19. Glasgow took a 12-10 lead after one against Fairview and increased their lead to 10 points at the half, 28-18. The Scotties outscored the Warriors 17-7 in the third and held on for the 51-36 win. The North Country Mavericks boys' basketball team won two of their three games last week. The Mavs fell 56-27 to the Lustre Christian Lions in Lustre on Jan. 16. They bounced back to defeat the Frazer Bearcubs 66-39 on Jan. 19, in Frazer and defeated the Dodson Coyotes in a 46-42 thriller in Whitewater on Jan. 20. GWC never backs down from competition! This weekend was no different, as the Highlanders traveled southwest to Helena for the prestigious annual Helltown Throwdown. This year's event featured 71 different youth clubs and a record 1,111 boy and girl wrestlers in attendance. It was the Glasgow Wrestling Club's first time attending this event in its 10 years of existence and the Highlanders would end up bringing the fifth biggest squad to competition. The Scottie boys wrestling team placed eighth at the 2024 Dylan Humes Memorial Tournament in Moorcroft, Wyo., this past weekend. Glasgow put up 85 team points to take the placing out of 28 teams in attendance. William Kirkland led the boys with a second place finish at 157 lbs.
