The first Can-Am Fort Peck Lake Laser Regatta will take place this weekend at the Fort Peck Marina. Events start on Friday, Aug. 15 and continue through Sunday, Aug. 17. The Laser is a small boat with a sail attached. Imagine a boat similar in size to a dingy, about 14 feet in length, with a large white sail attached. The sport is actually an Olympic sport and the small boats are raced all over the world. Julie Burke...
Fort Peck has vast land and water. It holds fishing tournaments, foot races, bike races and a sailboat regatta. What else is missing from Fort Peck? Triathlon. The idea of starting a triathlon first came to Carin Barnett, a resident of Fort Peck, when she thought about attending a couple of out-of-town events. Friends encourage her to practice on her own right here at home. The idea grew more exciting as she realized that this could be a fun community event with more friends getting involved. She named it Under The Dam Triathlon. It's slated...

For most of you who have witnessed my basketball-watching antics in the past, I can hear you saying, “He's a fine one to talk about being nice to the refs.” I'll admit I got pretty intense at times and thought my 20/20 vision was far better than that myopic Mr. Magoo out there on the floor blowing that whistle. I thought I knew all the rules to the letter and was sure to point out any mistakes the refs made. John Jones, a ref who was tougher than John Wayne TP, convinced me I wasn't as smart as I though I was when he pointed a finger at me and...

The Glasgow Reds had been virtually unbeatable the entire season. That trend continued in the first two games of the District Tournament in Sidney after securing the tournament's top spot. After a 23-4 victory over Miles City coupled with an 8-0 win against the Billings Cardinals, it appeared as if the Reds were preparing for an inevitable State Tournament berth in Lewistown. It was at that moment that the wheels came off of the vaunted Reds offense and the hopes to extend their season even... Full story

The Glasgow 12U baseball team played in the Pacific Northwest Regionals in Kalispell late last week and although the outcome wasn’t one fans had hoped for, the team left the community proud nonetheless. Glasgow won its lone game against Kalispell by a score of 5-3, but even their three losses, head coach Mike Nieskens felt that his team continued to play hard and refused to back down to their opponents regardless of the final scores. “I’m really proud of the kids,” Nieskens said. “I never saw them give up in these games. Just being in that a...
