Carroll MT Properties, the Bureau of Land Management and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation have teamed together to improve access to over 30,000 acres of public lands and to provide new access to 9,000 acres of private lands. Local young basketball players enjoyed an afternoon with the MSU-Northern Lady Skylights team in a skills camp organized by the Glasgow Area Basketball Club on Oct. 17. Well, maybe “maul” isn’t the politically correct word there but at times that is just what itseemed. A mauling. The North Country Mavericks, led by Jada Sudbrack and Mickayla Johnson, whupped up on the M-Ettes 25-16 in the first game of the match setting the stage for the next four games. It was a weekend full of experiences and opportunities for the GHS volleyball team and while it doesn't seem all that successful on paper, the girls learned some valuable team lessons and also earned some team pride. Although fighting a bout with what she thought was stomach flu, North Country Mavericks sophomore Jada Sudbrack had a stellar game which started off with her hitting two KWAs, a normal point and a BWA in the first minute and a half of play. The new North Country Lady Mavericks traveled to Nashua to test the mettle of the Lady Porcupines and came away with the knowledge that the Porkie's "Mettle" was too much for the Lady Mavs to handle. Winning comes more easily some days than others, as the Scottie volleyball team found out last weekend.
