Sixty-four teams from sixteen states participated in the 2014 Native American Basketball Invitational Tournament in Phoenix this year July 1 – 5. The Rockhawks, an Intertribal ladies team from the Fort Peck Reservation was coached by Barry Bighorn and Kelly Smith and went 7-0 for the tourney winning games by as much as 40 points and as little as 10. The Laurel Dodgers have been a thorn in the side of the Glasgow Reds for much of the season. As the Divisional swim meet approaches this weekend, the Glasgow Thunder stumbled in their final regular season event finishing seventh out of 12 teams that participated in the event. The 27th annual Montana Governor's Cup Walley Tournament took place over the weekend in Fort Peck. The tournament hosted over 140 teams during the weekend and saw Jesse and Monica Reuter of Sidney take first prize in a tournament that draws competitors from across the region. In winning the Governor's Cup, the duo took home more than $10,000 in prize money while the second and third place winners took home $8,150 and $4,900 respectively. Baseball is proving to be a dominant sport this summer in Glasgow. The Glasgow Cal Ripken 12U baseball team traveled to Havre over the weekend and won the Montana State Tournament and advanced to the Regionals Tournament that will be held in Kalispell, Montana starting on July 24. The 20th annual Longest Dam Race saw the most number of participants in the event's history according to Glasgow Chamber Executive Director Lisa Olk.
