The Turner Lady Tornadoes traveled to Hinsdale last Thursday to test their skills against the Hinsdale Lady Raiders. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has scheduled four public meetings along the Hi-Line in January to discuss tentative hunting regulations for the next two years. A total of 43 of the public gatherings are scheduled across the state. In FWP Region 6, the meetings will be held in Plentywood on January 9, Malta on January 14, Glasgow on January 21 and Havre on January 23. Three players from the Glasgow Ice Dawgs high school team helped a Bozeman based U18 hockey team earn second place in a Missoula high school tournament. Glasgow High School players Harley Eliason, Ryan Padden, and Connor Simensen played key roles in a very long stretch of hockey over which the team played seven games in six days. The team went 6-1 over that stretch en route to their second place finish in the A Division of Bruin High School Holiday Classic in Missoula. Glasgow wrestling hosted a mixer last Thursday with Malta and Wolf Point. The Scotties continue to see success on the mat from each of their wrestlers. Kasey Seyfert went 1-0 in the mixer with a pin. Cody King continued his torrid pace on the season adding three more victories to his record by way of pins. Tony Kaiser and Kevin Frigon both add two wins each. The Glasgow U-13 girls notch a victory in North Dakota. The girls traveled to Crosby, North Dakota Dec. 15 for a "spirited" match. Six minutes into the first period, Baylie Chappell scored the first goal. A Glasgow penalty sent Kennedy Schmidt away for 2 minutes followed by another penalty against Crosby's Shyann Ballew, sending her to the box as well. Glasgow wrestling enjoyed a nice winter break, but the break is just about over as the team heads back into the gym to prepare for its match against Malta on Jan. 2. Glasgow High School is hosting the Montana State Class B-C Forensic Meet on Jan. 31- Feb. 1. There are 52 schools that participate in Speech, Drama and Debate; with three divisions. There will be 360 students competing at the meet, the best six in each of the 16 events from each division. This is a huge undertaking. During the two days, there are four preliminary rounds in each event qualifying half of the students for semifinals; and eight in each event for finals to determine that state champions. The U19 squad had two games in Bismarck on Dec. 28-29, but at the time of publication, results were not available. On Saturday the Glasgow Ice Dawgs High School team traveled to Billings for a pair of games against the Bulls. Due to a scheduling issue on their end, the 10 a.m. game was moved to 9 a.m.. The problem was that they did not let the Ice Dawgs know until 8:30 that morning. Everyone made it in the nick of time after several frenzied calls and text messages. Glasgow fourth grader Rance Rhoads comes across as shy when you first meet him. The shyness quickly fades away when you ask him about his recent trip to Denver as Rhoads finished third in the 8-9 year old age group in the annual Punt, Pass and Kick competition put on by the NFL. The Glasgow High School Speech & Drama Team traveled to Billings Saturday to compete at the Billings Central Invitational Meet. Twenty-six schools competed at this meet, including two AA – Billings West and Bozeman. There were over 270 kids participating. The Glasgow team came home with the third place Class B Drama trophy. Making the trip were Colter Barnett, Jack Cornwell, Dylan Hlad, Michael Hoyer, Gage Iman, Ian Peterson, Tatum Provencher, and Gage Siefert. The first game against Kalispell had a rocky start.
