    Georgie Kulczyk, The Courier|Oct 12, 2016

Only the die-hard parents and fans were seated in the bleachers for the Scotties' Oct. 7 game against the Harlem Wildcats. With the temperature dropping below 40 degrees, it was a cold, windy night to watch football. For those that braved the weather, the boys put on a good show. The majority of the game was spent in Harlem territory, with Glasgow offensively and defensively on point for the night. First Quarter The Wildcats started the game with possession of the ball, but couldn't make... Full story

  • Lady Scotties Win in Poplar, Move to 6-0 in District 2B

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Oct 12, 2016

The Scottie volleyball team's trip to Scobey Oct. 4 was uneventful, as far as bus rides go. The volleyball match itself was a different matter entirely, as the Spartans and the Scotties faced off in a fierce battle of exciting offensive and defensive plays that brought the crowd to their feet. Both teams scrambled well and fought to the end, giving the audience quite a show, but in the end a very well-coached and extremely motivated Spartan team came out on top, 17-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-20,... Full story

North Country vs. Poplar The North Country Lady Mavericks were undoubtedly worn out before this past weekend came to an end. The co-op squad from Hinsdale, Saco and Whitewater faced three opponents in as many days. The first of three opponents was the scrappy Lady Indians of Poplar, who had the home court advantage. Although Poplar defeated the Lady Mavs in three consecutive games (25-19, 25-19, 25-14), North Country put up a good fight. Leading the team in both kills (8) and blocks (4), was... Full story

    Georgie Kulczyk, The Courier|Oct 5, 2016

The Wolf Point Wolves hosted the Glasgow Scotties on the gridiron Sept. 30, and they were determined to prevail over the Scotties. Unfortunately, the most newsworthy notes of the evening for the home team were their senior recognition and homecoming festivities. It took a while for the Scotties to warm up their offense, but defensively they denied the Wolves right from the beginning. Despite a 34-yard pass reception by Trent Herbert, when the first quarter came to an end, the scoreboard was... Full story

  • Lady Scotties Propelled to Win Over Wolves

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Oct 5, 2016

All this talk about the importance of passing, volleyball's first and most critical contact, proved its case as the Scotties fought for a victory over the Wolf Point Wolves Sept. 29. The crowd was raucous, packed with students who never stopped cheering, students who have endlessly and enthusiastically supported us every game - what a great environment to play in. Game one went as expected: scrappy competition on both sides of the net, neither team giving up on a ball, but finally GHS pushed a little harder and won 25-19. Game two was all Wolf... Full story

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Sep 28, 2016

The past week was busy for the GHS volleyball team as they traveled to Sidney Sept. 20 to take on the class A Eagles. In a very competitive four-set match, Glasgow came out on fire, stunning the Eagles with aggressive serving and a wicked-fast offense that kept their block from forming a wall strong enough to stop the Scotties. In quick fashion, Glasgow came out on top 25-14. Game two was much closer as the Eagles found their stride and pushed back, costing Glasgow the set 25-22. The Lady... Full story

The Scotties suited up for their 2016 homecoming game vs. the Big Timber Sheepherders on Sept. 16. Before the evening was over, the cheerleaders were worn out from doing jumping jacks, and the cannon had nearly depleted the supply of gun powder in Valley County. Benji Phillips followed the TD with a successful two-point conversion run. Score: 8-0. The score... Full story

Two big wins this past homecoming weekend catapulted the Scottie volleyball team into a solid 4-0 first-place standing at the conclusion of the first round of their conference season. On Sept. 8, a three-set victory over a determined M-ette team showcased a lot of poise on the GHS side of the net. Even in the face of adversity, the Scotties maintained emotional control, a positive aspect the team has been actively striving for all season, and were able to complete the task of pushing through to... Full story

  • Lady Scotties Top Wolf Point and Harlem

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Sep 14, 2016

Two 2B matches kept the Scottie volleyball team very busy last week. On Sept. 8, they hosted rival Wolf Point in a four set match. They eventually won 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23, but it was a battle all night. Wolf Point came armed with size, strength and will-power that tested the Scotties on every play. GHS succeeded in outscoring them, but as the numbers indicate, this was no easy feat. Injury forced GHS to move their lineup around and shake things up a bit, but down the road this will serve... Full story

  • Scotties Fall to Glendive

    Lori Dailey, For The Courier|Sep 7, 2016

It was a busy weekend for GHS volleyball and many noisy fans came out to celebrate the occasion. The Sept. 1 home opener against Class A Glendive showcased a lot of good competition, but in the end the Red Devils proved to be too much for the Scotties, taking the match 17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 23-25.
