Deep into December, the Lady Ice Dawgs are just about halfway through hockey season. This past weekend they picked up four games in Havre. The purpose of those games was mostly for the girls to gain eligibility to play in the Montana state tournament in February. After a 15-point loss to the Sidney Eagles in a game that stayed close until the last five minutes, the Glasgow Scottie boys finally found their rhythm and picked up a dominant win over the North Country Mavericks at home. The Scottie wrestlers were in Ft. Benton and Great Falls for three days of competitive wrestling this past weekend. Glasgow came away from the Ft. Benton mixer with a record of 12-8 overall. Finishing at 2-0 were Gabe Hallock, Oden Hallock, and Cody King. The invitational at CMR is a tough one, with teams from all over the state participating. Glasgow hosted their 20th annual wrestling invitational this weekend at the Glasgow High School. Eight teams descended on the school for six rounds of wrestling. Three of Glasgow's 12 competing wrestlers went undefeated in the tournament: Gabe Hallock,103 (2-0), Matt Reyling,113 (3-0), and Alex Hallock, 152 (4-0). The Glasgow Speech and Drama team attended the challenging Billings Central Catholic High School Invitational Speech, Drama and Debate Tournament this past weekend. The Mavericks were in Lewistown last weekend for the Fergus Holiday Classic and proved that free throws can make or break a game. The Glasgow Scotty Wrestlers traveled to Sidney last weekend for the Sidney Invitational and ended up placing 15th overall. Tristin Vandall, 13, hunted his very first elk on the last day of the big game season on Nov. 29. His father, Troy, took him hunting at least one day every weekend of the season, including the youth early hunt, out of a base camp set up by a generous friend in the Missouri Breaks. Donnie Bailey and Steve Fauth took part in the Special Olympics Bowling event in Billings on Sunday, Dec. 6. The young men bowled two singles games each and then bowled four games of doubles. Wyatt Mattfeldt has been playing hockey since he was three years old. Ultimately, he'd like to go on to play at the college level, and he's already two-thirds of the way to his goal. Nineteen GHS runners earned their “G” during the 2015 cross country season. Scottie XC head coach Rod Karst presented the runners with letters and pins at the team awards dinner last Monday, and congratulated them on a fine season. Friday night saw the clash of two evenly matched opponents as the Nashua Porcupines and the Dodson Coyotes took to the gym floor at Saco High School to determine the Junior High Girls' Championship.
