The 2017 Montana Governor's Cup Youth Fishing Tournament was held at the Kiwanis Park fishing ponds in Fort Peck on July 8. Fishing began at 8:30 a.m. with 94 kids participating, and 89 fish were reeled in by the tournament end. The effective bait was provided by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, and Scheels of Billings provided tackle boxes to each participant. The Glasgow Reds faced the Scobey Blues in two games last week. The Reds hosted the Blues in the first game at Bill Connors Field in Glasgow on June 27, and improved their overall record to 9-16 with an 11-1 win. John Hahn Field in Fort Peck was the setting for the 50th annual softball tournament by the same name. Campers and tents of all shapes and sizes were set up in home-run territory of the field, while lawn chairs filled with spectators and coolers filled with beverages were scattered along the fence line. The Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder competed at their second meet of the season in Chinook this past weekend. The two-day meet was held June 16 and 17. A four-day volleyball camp was held at GHS June 12-15, and was attended by nearly 100 campers. Glasgow's head volleyball coach, Lori Dailey, along with assistants Somer Hoerster and Natalie Hopstad, welcomed the campers to Scottie Gymnasium for skills instruction, laughs, and a very competitive playing atmosphere. Glasgow High School held their annual awards banquet May 30, in St. Raphael's gymnasium and featured 1998 GHS graduate Kami Malnaa. Prior to even getting in the water, swim team representatives were on hand to give the city pool its annual makeover.
