The Glasgow Area Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is again offering World Series Books to help the chamber continue their sponsorship of high school sports tournaments here in Glasgow. The books are on sale now and can be purchased from the chamber or any chamber board member, including Mike Pehlke, Paul Koski, Stan Ozark, Sam Mudlin, Bethanie Knight, Melissa Allen, Terry Colbrese, Gil Johnson, Shawn Andersyn, Erin Aune, Josh Sillerud, Gregg Hunter, Lisa Olk and Ryan Fast. Trevor Clark rides bareback bronc durng the youth rodeo at the fairgrounds. While none of the young cowboys were able to qualify for time during the round that took place Sept. 20, they did give it a good run for their money. The Montana High School Rodeo Association and Youth Rodeo Association helped kids compete in the rodeo and kept some in the crowds entertained with good old-fashioned fun. The hometown crowds were treated to a display of veteran and young talents last Friday night. The Scotties did not disappoint. The Glasgow football team breezed through the Harlem/Turner Wildcats at the Sept. 26 home game with a 59-0 victory. Cool. The Scottie Invitational at Kiwanis Park in Fort Peck was cool. The temperatures cooled down into the 50s on Invite Saturday, helping the Glasgow XC runners do what they set out to do. Bow hunter Ed Sugg of Glasgow poses proudly with the bighorn sheep that he bagged in southern Valley County. He was hunting in the 622 area. Not many wins, but a lot of memorable moments and virtual wins for your Scottie varsity volleyball girls as they traveled to Dickinson, N.D., for a tremendously challenging two-day tournament. Fishin' for the Cure, a Montana-based organization that builds public awareness of childhood cancer and raises funds to support childhood cancer research, hosted it's seventh annual Montana fishing derby. The event on Aug. 16 at Rock Creek Marina on Fort Peck Lake was attended and supported by nearly 200 gracious people – with 38 fishing teams and 107 fishermen – helping raise money for childhood cancer research. After a scoreless first quarter, the Scotties cruised to a 35-6 victory in a road game over Shelby on Sept 19. Dealing 1B Shelby's first loss, Glasgow is the only 2B team that boasts a 4-0 record now. The Saco-Hinsdale Wildfire took it to the Brockton Lady Warriors last Friday in Hinsdale to the cheers of a small but very supportive crowd. After a midweek trip to Glendive, the Scottie volleyball teams came home Tuesday night with mixed reviews. The C squad prevailed and won their match in three straight games, shocking the Red Devils with their tough serving and successful offense – and maintaining a spotless record. The Glasgow Scotties hosted the Baker Spartans on Sept. 12 for the homecoming game. Glasgow got off to a great start and stayed sharp throughout the game, defeating Baker 14-0 in front of a packed hometown crowd. Youth from across Montana will come to Glasgow to compete in high school rodeo events at the Valley County fairgrounds at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 and 21. This rodeo will have a YRA and a junior high rodeo that run with it, and this year the high school rodeo will have a reining completion. In addition, if you are a youth up to age 9, a “peewee” or a 10-year-old to eighth-grade “junior,” you could enter this rodeo as a hometown rodeo without purchasing a YRA membership.
