The 19U Lady Ice Dawgs traveled to Williston, North Dakota, this past weekend to play four League games against the North Dakota Amateur Hockey Association’s northeast teams. On Friday night the Ice Dawgs faced the Langdon Blades. Just 30 seconds into the first period, Alex Simensen shot one past the Langdon goalie to start the scoring for the Ice Dawgs. The Scottie girls (4-4, 6-10) occupy fourth place in District 2B before closing their regular season with home games against Poplar (0-8, 5-11) on Friday and Wolf Point (6-2, 12-4) on Saturday. Last week it was a 58-33 home win over Harlem (1-7, 3-13) on Friday and 53-38 road loss at Plentywood (5-3, 9-7) on Saturday for coach Jon Kolstad's team. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks hunter education course dates have been set for the Glasgow and Hinsdale areas. To be eligible to hunt during the 2015 season, hunters must be 12 years old by Jan. 16, 2016. To be eligible for certification, students must be at least 11 years old on the first day of the class. Montana legislators have introduced a pair of bills to improve public access to public lands by keeping public roads open. The Montana Wildlife Federation and Public Land/Water Access Association are pushing the bills to address the growing problem of people blocking off large tracts of public land by gating public rights of way. A three-game win streak helped lift the girls basketball Scotties (3-2, 4-6) into third place in District 2B, but the run ended last Saturday in Wolf Point. The Hinsdale Raider boys hosted the Poplar Indians last Friday and came away with another win They then beat Dodson, 71-33, to improve to 4-0 and 8-1 in District 3C.
