Fans of the Glasgow Scotties and the Nashua Porcupines filed into Scottie Gymnasium Friday night for a few non-conference games. According to the Dickinson State Blue Hawk's website, DSU Head Baseball Coach Jason Watson has announced former Glasgow resident and Scottie athlete Jason Thibault has signed with the Blue Hawks for the 2016 season. Thibault attended the 2015 fall semester at Montana State University - Billings as a member of the Yellowjacket Baseball team. Over the last two weekends, the Glasgow Bantam Ice Dawgs were challenged by formidable opponents in four home games. The first weekend in January, the Ice Dawgs faced the Billings Junior Bulls in a pair of games at the Valley Event Center. The Lustre Christian Lions traveled to Poplar to face the Indians for their first game of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 5. The Lady Lions took to the court in the first game of the night, and if not for the slow start in the first quarter of the game, the contest may have had a different outcome. Tessa Duncan was the 8/9 year old winner of the Elk's Hoop Shoot for Wallowa County in Oregon this year. Tessa is the 8-year old daughter of Rob and Tamarah Duncan of Wallowa, Ore. Tamarah was an OHS graduate in 1996 and also was an outstanding Viking basketball player so Tessa, who resembles her mother, comes by it naturally. The high school Ice Dawgs hosted the Flathead Flames Friday, Dec. 18 and Saturday, Dec. 19. From the looks of the official scoresheets, a hockey game broke out during the fight. By the end of two games, Glasgow left the ice with 19 total penalties, 63 penalty minutes served, and two skaters ejected from the game. Another away game and another win for the Lady Scotties. Defeating the class A Sidney Eagles with a score of 51-39, the Scotties increased their win-loss record to 3-1. The Lady Eagles outscored the Scotties in the first quarter, but once Glasgow claimed the lead, they didn't let go. U14 defender, Klaire Krumwiede plans to deny a Dickinson Outlaw during a November game at the Valley Event Center. The U14 girls traveled to Miles City for three games this past weekend and came away with a win against Bozeman (9-2), a loss to Miles City (4-3), and a draw in their second game against Miles City (6-6). Deep into December, the Lady Ice Dawgs are just about halfway through hockey season. This past weekend they picked up four games in Havre. The purpose of those games was mostly for the girls to gain eligibility to play in the Montana state tournament in February. After a 15-point loss to the Sidney Eagles in a game that stayed close until the last five minutes, the Glasgow Scottie boys finally found their rhythm and picked up a dominant win over the North Country Mavericks at home.
