  • Comments Taken on Two Proposed Fee Changes

    Joleen Tadej, For the Courier|Nov 9, 2016

Montana FWP is taking public comment on two proposed rule changes: one on commercial use of fishing access sites and wildlife management areas and another that would increase camping fees at fishing access sites. The change to the commercial use rule, would affect the price of a filming permit for any FAS or WMA. Currently, permits are progressively more expensive as the size of the filming crew exceeds 21. The new rule condenses this into one rate for these large groups and at the same time establishes a higher permit fee. The FAS camping fee...

  • District 2B Champions!

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Nov 2, 2016

The District Tournament held Oct. 28 and 29 did not start exactly as the Scotties had hoped. With a loss to Malta right off the bat, GHS was forced to re-group before playing Poplar later in the day, which they did with a win after three fairly efficient games. Saturday was a whole different animal. From the moment the Scotties stepped foot on the court, they were all business. • Scotties Are Conference Champs!

    Georgie Kulczyk, The Courier|Oct 26, 2016

The Scotties put on quite a show in Malta Oct. 21. Facing the rival Malta Mustangs on their home turf can be daunting, but the Scotties left it all on the field in an exhilarating win for the title of 2B conference champions. At times, it was an uphill battle, as Glasgow was assigned 17 penalties during the game, while Malta only received two. The Scotties' stellar moments, however, more than compensated for the less than balanced penalty distribution. Cade Myrick started things off with a...

During the match, the Scotties fired more than a few tough serves over at the M-ette's and kept them out of their game, somewhat. Pink night was celebrated by both teams and by most of the fans who packed into Scottie Gymnasium for the match. Both the C-Squad and JV teams won their matches, and then it was varsity's turn. The game began with a sign of good sportsmanship as the Scotties presented the Wildcats with pink hair ribbons, worn to honor people affected by breast cancer. Following team introductions, it...

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Oct 12, 2016

The Scottie volleyball team's trip to Scobey Oct. 4 was uneventful, as far as bus rides go. The volleyball match itself was a different matter entirely, as the Spartans and the Scotties faced off in a fierce battle of exciting offensive and defensive plays that brought the crowd to their feet. Both teams scrambled well and fought to the end, giving the audience quite a show, but in the end a very well-coached and extremely motivated Spartan team came out on top, 17-25, 24-26, 25-14, 25-20,...

Although Poplar defeated the Lady Mavs in three consecutive games (25-19, 25-19, 25-14), North Country put up a good fight. Leading the team in both kills (8) and blocks (4), was...

    Georgie Kulczyk, The Courier|Oct 5, 2016

The Wolf Point Wolves hosted the Glasgow Scotties on the gridiron Sept. 30, and they were determined to prevail over the Scotties. Unfortunately, the most newsworthy notes of the evening for the home team were their senior recognition and homecoming festivities. It took a while for the Scotties to warm up their offense, but defensively they denied the Wolves right from the beginning. Despite a 34-yard pass reception by Trent Herbert, when the first quarter came to an end, the scoreboard was...

  • Lady Scotties Propelled to Win Over Wolves

    Lori Dailey, For the Courier|Oct 5, 2016

All this talk about the importance of passing, volleyball's first and most critical contact, proved its case as the Scotties fought for a victory over the Wolf Point Wolves Sept. 29. The crowd was raucous, packed with students who never stopped cheering, students who have endlessly and enthusiastically supported us every game - what a great environment to play in. Game one went as expected: scrappy competition on both sides of the net, neither team giving up on a ball, but finally GHS pushed a little harder and won 25-19. Game two was all Wolf...
