It was a long night for the Scotties, but productive nonetheless. The Scotties traveled to Glendive on Sept. 2 for their second away-game of the season, and came home with the win. In a battle of two-point conversions, safeties, fumbles and penalties, the Scotties prevailed. Montana FWPs’ Region 6 Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) will meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Fort Peck Fish Hatchery, located at 277 Montana Highway 117, just north of Fort Peck. Glasgow Middle School boys extended a two-year winning streak by taking the team title Aug. 27 at the Poplar Invitational cross country meet. The annual Fort Peck Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27. Organizers have decided to change things a bit this year with a new venue and a new route for runners. The new location for the event will be at the Flat Lake boat ramp, and the running portion will take participants over the Fort Peck Dam and the Spillway. A total of 165 people took to the streets Aug. 20 to support Veterans and get pelted with bright colored chalk. While the majority of event go-ers wore white T-shirts, some came in flamboyant bright costumes. This event contains a genuine levity that can be hard to describe with just words. The Glasgow Civic Center was the setting for a three-day wrestling camp presented by some high-caliber clinicians. The camp was held Aug. 7-9, and boasted 77 attendees. From one corner of the state to the another, the Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder traveled nearly 500 miles to Hamilton for the state swim meet July 30 and 31. The Glasgow/Fort Peck chapter of Walleyes Unlimited held their annual Women's Walleye Tournament Saturday, July 30 on Fort Peck Lake. Taking home the top prize of $1000 were Avis McDowell and Misty Williams of Froid with a total weight of 35.54 pounds caught. This year, 61 teams participated in the tournament and brought in nearly 500 pounds of walleye. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team finished their eighth weekend of competition July 23 and 24 in Malta, where the divisional swim meet was held. With 370 swimmers from ten veteran teams, the competition was tough. Swimmers must place in the top 12 of their events just to qualify for state competition. It was a tough "building" year for the 2016 Reds', and their season came to a disappointing end at the district tournament in Billings after just two games. The first game for the Reds was held Thursday afternoon, July 21, with Glasgow facing the Sidney Patriots on the diamond. Bringing their regular season to a close, the Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team competed at the Sidney Invitational July 16 and 17. The Thunder earned a respectable fourth place with a small number of swimmers participating. The Sidney Tiger Sharks, with their full roster, placed first with more than 1,200 points – three times more than Glasgow's 428.5 points. Glasgow hosted the 2016 Montana Cal Ripken 10U State Tournament July 13-17, with a total of eleven teams participating. Unfortunately, Glasgow's own all-stars' run came to an early end due to the weather. In what seems to be the norm lately, the tournament was at the mercy of Mother Nature.
