Following a dual vs. Glendive on Jan. 10, the Scottie wrestlers traveled to the Cowboy Classic in Miles City for a two-day tournament Jan. 13 and 14. After going 11-4 in Poplar Jan. 3, the Scottie grapplers competed in the Bismarck Rotary Tournament Jan. 6 and 7. It was Glasgow's first showing at the two-day tournament, which provided the Scotties an opportunity to wrestle against some new competition. All Valley County high school seniors are eligible to apply for a substantial college scholarship that will be awarded in February by the Hi-Line Sportsmen. Scholarship winners will be announced at the conservation group’s first-annual fundraising banquet, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church’s parish hall in Glasgow. The Nashua Porcupines and the Nashua-Opheim Rivals faced the Dodson Coyotes in two home games Dec. 20. Tetons basketball head coach Kia Herbel did not have to look too far to find talent for next season's roster. Using assistant coach Jenna Bolstad's familiarity with recruiting in the region, they were able to unearth two gems out of Glasgow. Glasgow 5, Great Falls 5 The first of two games on the road for the Bantam Ice Dawgs, held Dec. 10, resulted in a 5-5 tie. Glasgow easily dominated offensively, out-shooting the Americans 52-15. The Lady Scotties are on a roll, but some of their toughest opponents are still ahead. In two non-conference games against Sidney (Dec. 15) and North Country (Dec. 17), the girls extended their winning streak to 4-0. After a stop in Ft. Benton as a warm-up, the Scottie grapplers spent Dec. 16 and 17 in Great Falls at the CMR Holiday Classic Wrestling Tournament. The tournament draws teams from all over Montana and this year was set to host 36 teams, although some were unable to make the trip due to weather conditions. Glasgow placed seventh out of 34 teams. The 21st annual Scottie Wrestling Invitational was held Dec. 10 at GHS. Glasgow hosted 19 other teams for the event, and with four wrestling mats being utilized throughout the day, Scottie Gymnasium was buzzing with activity. The final results are in at Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Havre check station for the 2016 hunting season. The check station was open from Oct. 8 (the open of general antelope) through Nov. 27 (the end of the deer/elk general season). Overall, both hunter numbers and big-game harvest increased from last year, with mule deer numbers being the highest in several years. The 14U and 19U Lady Ice Dawgs traveled to Crosby for games on Dec. 3. The 14U girls put forth a great effort against a tough team. Despite some scoring chances, the girls were unable to hit the back of the net during the game and lost to the Comets 4-0.
