Montana's seventh Annual Fishin' for the Cure Tournament is set for Saturday, Aug. 16, at Rock Creek Marina at Fort Peck Lake. Still cutting time going into the finals, the Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder Swim Team had a solid performance from 22 swimmers at the state meet in Conrad this past weekend. Out of the 22 state qualifiers, 13 swimmers qualified for the finals on Sunday and went on to bring home three champions, six second-place and six third-place finishes. The Glasgow Reds had been virtually unbeatable the entire season. That trend continued in the first two games of the District Tournament in Sidney after securing the tournament's top spot. Experience reigned supreme for the Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder swim team at the Divisional swim meet in Chinook this past weekend. The Glasgow 12U baseball team played in the Pacific Northwest Regionals in Kalispell late last week and although the outcome wasn’t one fans had hoped for, the team left the community proud nonetheless. The community of Glasgow came out in full force over the weekend to help the Cal Ripken 12U team raise money for its trip to Kalispell this week to compete in the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. When the money was all added up, the team amassed over $3,000 in funds, money that 12U head coach Mike Nieskens said is much appreciated. The first annual Doggie Dash at Sullivan Park united man and its best friend to a rousing success, according to event organizer Chelsie McAllister. Sixty-four teams from sixteen states participated in the 2014 Native American Basketball Invitational Tournament in Phoenix this year July 1 – 5. As the Divisional swim meet approaches this weekend, the Glasgow Thunder stumbled in their final regular season event finishing seventh out of 12 teams that participated in the event. The 27th annual Montana Governor's Cup Walley Tournament took place over the weekend in Fort Peck. The tournament hosted over 140 teams during the weekend and saw Jesse and Monica Reuter of Sidney take first prize in a tournament that draws competitors from across the region. In winning the Governor's Cup, the duo took home more than $10,000 in prize money while the second and third place winners took home $8,150 and $4,900 respectively. Baseball is proving to be a dominant sport this summer in Glasgow. The Glasgow Cal Ripken 12U baseball team traveled to Havre over the weekend and won the Montana State Tournament and advanced to the Regionals Tournament that will be held in Kalispell, Montana starting on July 24.
