The 14U Ice Dawgs had a successful opening weekend in Kalispell Nov. 17-19. They played four games and earned four wins – three of them shut-outs for goalie Elizabeth Nyquist. The games were held at Woodland Ice Center, an outdoor rink in Kalispell. The rink is almost the perfect setting for hockey games, with tall trees creating a canopy of sorts over the ice that amplifies the sound of skates on the ice and pucks hitting the boards. It is especially magical at night and is a favorite venue f... Full story

MARC KLOKER FOR THE COURIER Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks’ Havre hunter check station has been operating for five weeks so far for the 2017 hunting season. Mule deer harvest has been high compared to previous years, and most big game species and upland birds have been slightly down. Over the five weeks the check station has been open, overall hunter numbers are down seven percent from last year and are six percent below the long-term average. “Muddy, wet weather conditions the first weekend the check station opened may have contributed to... The volleyball season has come to an end and brought with it the usual range of conflicting emotions, but the prevailing feeling must actually be one of accomplishment. Even though we said goodbye earlier in the Divisional Tournament than we had hoped, the Glasgow Scotties did so with class and grace after having given their all. We coaches could not be prouder of the girls. Their fight and respect for the game and everyone affiliated with it never faltered. So now we must say goodbye to the... Full story

GHS first matched up with Harlem at 1 p.m. on Oct. 27, and swept the Lady Wildcats in three games: 25-12, 25-10, 25-13. With some of the best passing of... Full story
The Scottie cross country team closed out the 2017 season with heart and hardware. The state meet was held in Helena on Oct. 21, and the Scotties did not disappoint. It was the second time in just a few weeks that Glasgow competed on the same course, and coach Rod Karst felt the team used the experience to their benefit. "Their performance on Saturday was so much stronger than what we showed in Helena two weeks ago," he said. "They learned a lot going to the 7 of 7 meet, and used that to make... Full story
