  • Let's All Be Adults

    Georgie Kulczyk, Soapbox Soliloquy|Mar 14, 2018

I believe that student involvement in high school sports is one of the surest ways for young adults to learn many life lessons. Unfortunately, not all of those life lessons are positive. Each season, without fail, there seems to be a controversy spurred on by the behavior of a parent, coach, referee, player, fan, or even school administration. Sometimes there are multiple lessons to be learned. This year, the Lady Scotties had a disappointing basketball season. It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last. A person can call it growing...

  • Why Not Wrestling?

    Sharon Meredith, For the Courier|Mar 14, 2018

I would like to thank Coach Ryan for all of the kind words he shared in his article about my family last week. I would also like to thank all of the coaching staff of the Glasgow Wrestling Club for everything they do for each and every one of the team members and by extension – their families. I would like to address one particular question now. What can wrestling do for you? This is a small list of things I see in the boys since they started wrestling: Determination; Passion; Teamwork; Pride; Accountability; Honor; Humility; S...

  • Support, Don't Criticize

Ruth Ann Hutcheson, For the Courier|Mar 14, 2018

Hey all you Scottie Fans, don’t you think it’s time that we start supporting our student athletes and coaches instead of criticizing their every move? There is way too much negativity in high school athletics. The only good that comes from being negative is getting the athletes to fight amongst each other and to not support one another or the coaching staff. Being negative only hurts the athletes. I believe that we forget these are high school kids playing high school sports. Do I need to remind everyone that the athletics offered at Gla...

  • Winning By Just Showing Up

    Ryan Hartwell, For the Courier|Mar 7, 2018

It's an early Saturday morning as I walk into the high school gym. I take a deep breath, and the smell of wrestling mats engulf my nostrils. It smells like sweat, hard work, intensity, anxiety, confidence, determination, failure and success. It is one of those smells I have been conditioned to love, like a football locker room, a damp ski rental shop, or the inside of a sweaty-dirty baseball cap. Kids ranging in age from four years old to middle school age are wrestling, testing their mat skills...

Finishing their seasons at the Eastern C Divisional tournament in Wolf Point Feb. 21-23 were the North Country Mavericks and Lady Mavericks, and the Frazer Bearcubs and Lady Bearcubs.
