The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team traveled to Roundup June 16 and 17 for their second full meet of the season, with 14 athletes making the trip. The Glasgow Reds hosted the Richland County Patriots in a double header at Sullivan Park on June 12. Kevin McDonald and Chase Guttenberg teamed up on the mound to deliver a shut-out in the first contest as the Reds defeated the Patriots 11-0, with McDonald earning the win. GEORGIE KULCZYK THE COURIER The Longest Dam Race was held in Fort Peck June 16. Runners and bikers were forced to compete in the rain, but most of them finished with a smile anyway. Cesar Mireles of Richey dominated the event, winning in three categories: the 10K run, the 5K run and the 1-Mile run/walk. The Glasgow Reds hosted the Billings Cardinal in a double header on June 5. The Cardinals got the best of the home team in both contests, winning 12-6 and 13-1. The Scottie Booster Club's annual all-sports banquet was held in the St. Raphael's gymnasium on May 29. The purpose of the event was to honor and award student athletes of GHS and recognize their outstanding achievements. The 19th Annual Catfish Classic came to an end just after midnight on June 3. The festivities began with the Calcutta and street dance on Glasgow's famous Front Street on June 1, and concluded with the midnight weigh-ins in downtown Glasgow. The tournament boasted 80 teams from near and far, from Glasgow to North Carolina. Of those 80 teams, 68 were able to hook enough catfish to weigh-in. Reds baseball season is in full swing, with a handful of games already in the books. The boys started playing on the diamond May 20 when they took on the Wolf Point Yellowjackets. The Scottie track season ended with a mixture of disappointments and triumphs. The 2018 State Class B track meet was held in Laurel May 25 and 26, and Glasgow was represented by nearly 30 athletes. Conditions were less than favorable for the competitors with scorching hot sun beating down for most of the weekend. The class B state golf tournament wrapped up in Shepherd May 16. Both Scottie teams finished ninth overall. The boys had a total score of 739, and the girls finished with 924. The 2018 Montana Cat Circuit kicked off May 12 with the 12th Annual Yellowstone Challenge. The tournament, which is based out of Huntley, boasted 49 boats on Saturday. The Scottie softball team has been busy making up for lost time in the last few weeks.
