The Lady Mavericks opened their volleyball season with two tough weekends. First, with a busy tournament in Malta on Aug. 25. Although the girls finished with some nice scores, they were unable to win a set for the day. According to head coach Charlene Wasson, the squad struggled at being aggressive at the net. The Scottie cross country team was in Billings Aug. 31. With more than 300 varsity runners, it was likely the largest meet on the Scottie's schedule. With the number of competitors at the meet, the overall finishes by Ike Braaten and Wilson Overby were definitely impressive. The Glasgow Scotties took a skeleton crew of sorts to the Williston cross country meet on Aug. 25. With several athletes unable to compete for a number of reasons, the team didn't run to its full potential. The Lustre Lady Lions were on the road for their first competition of the season Aug. 25, traveling to Culbertson for their invitational. The 8th Annual Missouri River Catfish Clash took place in Williston, N.D., Aug. 18, as 40 boats hit the water on a beautiful sunny day. The Clash never seems to disappoint in terms of the number of catfish caught or the overall size of the fish, and this year was no different. An impressive 19 teams weighed in over 20 pounds. The Glasgow Scottie Wrestling Club held their annual wrestling camp at the Glasgow Civic Center last week. The program drew a crowd of 120 wrestlers ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade, and spanning from Glasgow to Billings. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team competed in Conrad at the state swim meet Aug. 4 and 5. Going into the weekend, the team was seeded sixth in the class "A" division. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team took 32 swimmers to the divisional swim meet in Chinook July 28 and 29.
