The Glasgow Scotties had a full weekend of wrestling with duals held Dec. 7, and the 23rd Annual Scottie Invitational held Dec. 8. The Scotties scored three wins and one loss in the Friday night duals, falling only to the Sidney Eagles, 48-21, and defeating Glendive, 69-6, Hardin, 54-21, and Choteau, 69-6. The 2018 Class C Showcase did not disappoint. The two-day event was held at GHS Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, with 16 teams in attendance. The weekend was filled with great competition which allowed the teams to display their talents and work out some kinks in their strategies. The Scottie wrestlers began their season with a busy, but productive weekend, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The grapplers kicked things off with duals on Friday night in Sidney and earned some extraordinary wins, defeating AA Billings West, 38-36, and the defending B/C champions from Colstrip, 48-26. The Bantam Ice Dawgs hosted Havre at the Valley Event Center on Dec. 1. The teams faced off twice during the day, with Glasgow recording two wins over Havre, 4-1 and 10-1. The first contest began at noon and the visiting Ice Hawks were able to score halfway through the first period. The High School Ice Dawgs have been on the road for their first two weekends of hockey games. Nov. 17 and 18, they were in Whitefish for two games against the Flathead Flames. Glasgow prevailed over the Flames in the first game, 4-3, but struggled to defend their net in the second game and allowed the Flames to score seven goals to their one goal. Josie Braaten, a 2015 graduate of Glasgow High School, has been running competitively since her seventh-grade season as a Scottie. This past weekend, the now-college senior wrapped up her 10th and final season in the sport, running for the Mavericks of Minnesota State University at Mankato. Braaten represented the Mavericks at the NCAA Regional Meet held in Joplin, Mo., on Nov. 17. Seven young men from Hinsdale made up nearly one-third of the Scottie football roster this past season. That being said, you could assume that as a group they were key players for the Scotties. The 2018 Scottie football season came to a close on Oct. 27, following a loss to the Colstrip Colts.
