Following a less-than-stellar performance by the Lady Scottie softball team vs. Havre on April 23 (loss to the Ponies 20-1 in three innings), the girls were tasked with re-grouping and preparing for the Scottie Softball Slam held April 26 and 27. The Scottie golfers were finally able to compete in their first meet at the Poplar Invitational held in Wolf Point on April 16. Lexie Pehlke led the girls to a second-place finish with her score of 100, followed by Alexus Nistler in eighth place with a 103. The Lady Scotties took on the Fergus Lady Eagles at Jeff Jurgens Field on April 9. Glasgow played a tight game through the third inning when the score was 9-8 in favor of Lewistown. The Glasgow Middle School track program is nearing the half-way point of its short season and is hosting its invitational meet this Thursday, April 18, at the Glasgow High School track. Field events get underway at 9 a.m. with running events scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Most Class B and Class C schools from the region plan to compete. Nearly two dozen schools converged on Scottie Field this past weekend to compete in the area's first track meet for 2019. Eligible graduating seniors from Valley County high schools are encouraged to apply for a Jeff Jurgens Memorial Scholarship, presented by the Scottie Booster Club. Application deadline for the scholarships is May 1, 2019. The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the annual Jeff Jurgens Memorial Basketball Tournament, which finished its 21st consecutive year last month. Local law enforcement and first responders came out March 22 to raise funds for the local Relay For Life committee which has decided to initiate a "HOPE" (Help Others Pay Expenses) fund. The 21st-Annual Jeff Jurgens Memorial Tournament brought a lot of ballers to town March 16 and 17.
