The Glasgow Scottie football team took their fans for a wild ride Friday against the Baker Spartans. The Scotties left the field with another notch in their win column in a game that felt a lot tighter than the final 24-14 score may have indicated. Head coach Patrick Barnett said, "Either team could have won." He enthused that the game was a fun one to coach and praised both teams for playing hard all the way through. The Glasgow volleyball team recovered nicely this week after stumbling against Plentywood and in Chinook. The Scotties swept two conference opponents, Malta and Harlem, to improve their record to 2-1 overall, 2-0 in the conference. The Glasgow Cross Country teams have found their legs and are striding through the 2021 season. The boys brought home a first place finish from the Havre Invitational on Sept. 11, while the girls earned a third place finish. The Scottie girls earned 83 points, finishing behind Fergus, 46 points, and Havre, 76. The North Country Mavericks dominated on the volleyball court this past week, defeating Harlem and Bainville. The Mavs defeated the Wildcats 26-16, 25-17, 25-16 on Sept. 9 in Harlem. Sunnyside Golf and Country Club held their annual club championship tournament in a slightly different format for the summer of 2021. Taking into account the kick off of school fall sports and the coronavirus, the tournament was spread out over two weeks, allowing golfers plenty of time to complete their rounds. Competitors also had the option this year to buy another round if their first was found lacking. Glasgow Middle School's girls cross country team placed all five of its scorers in the top 16 positions to take the team title at its home meet last Saturday at Sullivan Park.
