    HAVRE– The process of developing the first Fresno Reservoir Fisheries Management Plan is nearing completion, and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on a draft plan developed by FWP and a 9-member Advisory Committee. Comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Aug. 31, 2021. The new plan sets the direction for fisheries management on Fresno and establishes management targets for sportfish and forage species.   • High Temps Prompt Additional Fishing Restrictions on Several Montana Rivers

    HELENA – Several angling restrictions on rivers in southwest, north-central and south-central Montana go into effect today due to warming temperatures and low flows. The restrictions include what are commonly known as “hoot owl” restrictions, which means fishing is closed from 2 p.m. to midnight each day.     HELENA – A Watercraft Inspector Appreciation Week is scheduled for Aug. 2-8. Watercraft inspection stations are the first line of defense to protect Montana’s water from the harmful impacts of aquatic invasive species. Inspectors are trained to examine a wide variety of motorized and non-motorized boats, some with complex internal systems and ballast tanks that need special consideration to inspect and decontaminate.     The Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder traveled to Lewistown this past weekend for the 2021 Eastern Divisional swim meet. After two days of intense competition, the Thunder will be sending 28 swimmers on to the state swim meet in Columbia Falls this Saturday and Sunday, July 31 and Aug. 1.     FOR THE COURIER In 2021 we had a total of 71 kids fishing with a total of 267 FISH CAUGHT. Pretty sure that was a record number caught. Each participant received a free t-shirt provided by the sponsors. Prizes were awarded to the top placers and those who did not place had a variety of free gifts to choose from.
