Dear Editor, I am writing you from Cell-Block-C in the Valley County Detention Center. We read your paper every week regardless of where we're originally from. The facility here is very tolerable. Not only because of the air-conditioner in summer and heat in winter, but the people. The staff here treat us like human-beings and not animals. The food is good, too. I am 32-years-old and a mother of one 8-year-old girl who enjoys swim team and swimming for fun. I am looking to raise money to help pay for the Valley County Community Pool. Any amount will help build a new pool. We still need an estimated $1.78 million. We do have a grant in place, but if we do not have the pool completed by 2023, we will lose the grant. I received a message from Saint Marie's Water Manager, Rob Esaias, on Monday, July 12th that he had the water main fixed. A word of warning goes with this if you EVER have a water break. We were told to make sure you do not use your water filters right away and to run the water for awhile. This will clear the lines of silt from the pipes. Speed Limit Sign Needed There is a problem for people in northeast Glasgow between the high school, middle school and church. We have encountered hazards. First, a 15 mph sign on the west end of Angus Street has been removed. On the east side at Cloud Street, there is a sign that says "SLOW." Does this mean 25 mph? On Thursday, June 10, six officers from the Valley County Sheriff's Office completed their cross-deputization training with Chief of Police Jim Summers of the Fort Peck Tribal Law and Justice Office. It seems marijuana is still a bit of a sticky-icky subject in Montana. Last month, Governor Gianforte signed HB 701 into law. The bill outlines the regulations for marijuana commercialization, some of the most stringent among states in the USA which have legalized recreational pot. The Glasgow Police Department reminds our community about their local fireworks ordinance. This ordinance was created to allow the youth the opportunity to light minor fireworks off in the city limits with their family. The old ordinance did not allow any fireworks in the city limits.
