Summer came a close when Glasgow students were welcomed back into the classroom on Aug. 22. During their Discussion and Decision meeting on Aug. 3, the Valley County Commissioners in attendance, Commissioner Paul Tweten and Commissioner John Fahlgren, voted to provide Valley View Home another $500,000 appropriation to help keep the nursing home sustainable. During the Glasgow City Council meeting on Aug. 1, the Council gave final approval for an annual two percent increase in water and sewer rates for city customers through September 2027. The initial increase will see the base rate of residential water go up to $28.71 and the sewer base rate will increase to $45.75. A total of $57 million in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Utilities Service ReConnect grants for broadband expansion in rural areas and Indian Country has been secured by the federal government. An EF-2 tornado directly hit the small community of Glentana July 18 causing extensive damage to property but, to the relief of residents, community members emerged unscathed. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Glasgow, the tornado touched down 5.5 miles southwest of Glentana at 5:47 p.m. and moved to the northeast ending at 5:56 p.m. The average path width was 457 yards and then traveled 8 miles. At approximately 10:45 in the morning, on Saturday, July 23, a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of US Highway 2 and MT Highway 117, near the town of Nashua.
