  • Glasgow Law Enforcement Assists With Zortman Stand Off

    Adele Payne, the woman who triggered an hours-long standoff with law enforcement agencies near Zortman in Phillips County, is now facing several criminal charges and is being held at the Valley County Jail. Phillips County Sheriff Lytle said in a news release on Dec. 6, that his office received a phone call on Wednesday morning (Dec. 4) from a person reporting that a friend in the Zortman area had called her stating that her house was on fire.     According to the Glasgow Police Department, there was a bomb threat called in to the McDonalds in Glasgow during the afternoon of Dec 7. When the threat was made, the suspect did not provide any details besides there was a bomb in the McDonald's building. The building and surrounding businesses were evacuated.     The Montana Department of Commerce recently announced that 26 local safety agencies will share more than $1.4 million of grant funding to support tourism-related emergency service projects in rural areas.
