    On July 6, at 8:40 a.m., the Valley County Sheriff’s Office responded to the cabin area of Fort Peck Lake for an unresponsive two-year old, later identified as Cullen Meland, found in the water. Meland, son of Braden and Bethany Meland, of Billings, was staying with relatives in the area when the accident occurred. The Office of the Sheriff/Coroner will conduct a cause and manner of death investigation, which as of press time was still ongoing.     The Hinsdale Volunteer Ambulance Service held its annual pie auction fundraiser following the July 4 barbecue in the Hinsdale Legion Park.     On July 5, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Eastern Montana Drug Task Force, executed two separate search warrants on two houses in Glasgow. The search warrants resulted in the arrest of two individuals for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drugs with intent to distribute. The risk for potential encounters between humans and wild animals increases during spring and summer because of the time spent hiking and engaging in other outdoor activities.
