  • Over $30,000 In One Day

    Greg Wisom from Pacific Steel collects from passing drivers for the Soroptimist Block of Bucks. The program was able to collect $30,019 on Friday, Dec. 5. The funds were able to help 91 local families, which included 214 children. Those collecting this year were happy that while the weather was a little chilly, it beat the 20 below temps from the year prior.     Eight-year-old Opheim third-grader Aiden Fouhy and his mother, Cindy Fouhy, flew to Billings on Friday so that Aiden could fulfill his dream of helping others through his book charity.   • Search Effort Finds Boy, 14, on Thanksgiving

    One Forsyth family had a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day. Their 14-year-old son, Marcus Rothwell, was lost overnight during a hunting trip that brought them to the Timber Creek area, near Wyatt Coulee and Plum Creek. Valley County Undershefiff Vern Buerkle said a large group effort in the county helped search for the boy.   • Horn Raised Most Campaign Funding In County Races

    As the year winds down to an end, voters are already putting elections behind them and looking toward those getting ready to take office. But campaign funding records are open to the public for disclosure, and funds raised went toward radio ads, print ads, window decals and signs to promote the local candidates.   • Water Customers May See Refund

    The Glasgow City Council met and approved to pay back water customers over the next six months after a glitch in software was found by the auditors that made their visit in November. The software was unable to convert cubic feet and gallons. The glitch only made pennies in a difference in Glasgow City billing, but over a year it added up. A total of $38,120.16 is owed and will be credited to both commercial and residential customers, just over $15,450 is owed to commercial users, the leftover $22,668 going toward residents who hooked up to...

    The Valley County courthouse had visits from the auditors recently. Their responses came in with some minor suggestions. The full report is usually available after the the New Year. The auditors suggested segregated collections and budgets for the airport, refuse and weed departments. They also suggested that they consider taking a supply inventory so the county can track property and items.     Valley County commissioners have been working with tribal authorities to place signs alerting drivers about the sharp turn on Wiota Road where a local teenager lost his life.     Carlos Gonzales and Levi Overvold spent a little bit of time looking at the entries in the Festival of Trees that took place this weekend. The event helped raise over $5,000 for the Relay for Life this year. This year's People's Choice went the "The Grinch" tree that was sponsored by the Hi Line Home Programs, Inc.     It's been roughly over two decades since Glasgow lost its Christmas tree located downtown. The tree used to sit in the middle of the street on 2nd Ave. S and 4th St. S. A manhole was uncovered and a pot the city created to place the tree in helped hold the tree in place.     The Tri-Agency Drug Force and the Valley County Sheriff's Office reported that they made a bust after an intense investigation came to a close on Monday, Nov. 10. After a search warrant was conducted at 587 BIA Route 1, the task force located Shon Wilcox, who had approximately 4.5 pounds of pot, methamphetamine, prescription pills and numerous paraphernalia items that were located in a camper, utility trailer and a pickup.     The highly charged debate surrounding the Keystone XL Pipeline, which could heavily impact Valley County, found approval and rejection in a week's time.
