The Nature Conservancy recently secured a conservation easement on 15,959 acres of land north of Glasgow on the Carroll ranch. The easement, which encompasses all of the private lands along the northern border of the Bitter Creek Wilderness Study Area, will help conserve of one of the most intact grasslands on the continent. An explosion of currently unknown origin demolished and burned a northwestern Glasgow home Friday, June 10, at 6:22 a.m. badly injuring the occupant and completely destroying the home. The Valley County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Robert J. Willenborg, 59, of Buena Vista, Colo. Valley County Search & Rescue assisted in the removal of Willenborg’s vehicle, a white pickup truck, from the Missouri River near Boy Scout Park, where it was discovered submerged by a local boater on June 12. Already struggling to fill open positions, the Nashua School received and accepted five new resignations at the June 2 school board meeting, bringing the total of recent resignations to eight. Glasgow Public Works Director Rob Kompel and Mayor Becky Erickson recently provided details on a paving project set to begin Monday, June 6, and run for up to two weeks. Valley View nursing home (VVH) is a long-term care facility in Glasgow that provides the region with an invaluable community service. Recently, the facility received a troubling quality assurance review by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). The latest incarnation of the Milk River Motorsports Demolition Derby saw increases in both attendance and participation on May 28 at the Valley County fairgrounds. News of the recent termination of Jon Kolstad's contract as Glasgow High School's head girls basketball coach left unanswered questions. Efforts by interested parties to clarify the termination with school board trustees were initially unsuccessful.
