    Valley County Sheriff Vernon Buerkle reported that former Undersheriff and Deputy Luke Strommen has resigned his position at the Sheriff’s Office. Buerkle stated that Strommen’s letter cited “personal reasons” as the justification for his resignation.     According to Sheriff Vernon Buerkle, Valley County deputies and firefighters responded to a report of a suspicious device 20 miles north of Nashua. The suspicious package had been sent in the mail to a local resident on Nov. 5, at roughly 3:47 in the afternoon. Buerkle stated that the report came in from a Valley County male who had received the package and noted its awkward shape and size.     The Glasgow City Council met at their normal meeting on Nov. 5, in the council chambers. The meeting discussed a number of agenda items ranging from closing the city office the day after Thanksgiving to deciding whether to loan over $380,000 from First Community Bank to purchase equipment for the city.     The Valley County Sheriff’s Office has reported that the charge of Deliberate Homicide against John Ersness has been dismissed without prejudice by Valley County Justice Court. The request to dismiss was made by Valley County Attorney Dylan Jensen.     The Valley County Health Department was recently awarded a $5,000 Barclay-Giel Seed Grant in order to improve their family planning program and to promote oral health in the community. The church will be open for collecting on Monday, Nov. 12, through Monday, Nov. 19.     Tom Boyer received 2,243 votes against Joe Horn's 1,459 votes for Valley County Sheriff. The unofficial count had Boyer receiving 2,270 votes, however after verifying the write-in, the number of votes changed to 2,243.
