Hinsdale Public Schools has a new superintendent this year: Ed Sugg. You probably know him as Coach Sugg from the Scotties' football team, or Mr. Sugg from the Glasgow Middle School. Beginning Aug. 25, and continuing through the weekend, the Glasgow Police Department began receiving several reports of theft and illegal trespass to private structures and several vehicles. At this time, the police department has identified numerous suspects involved. They have executed searches on both homes and vehicles of the suspects, which has led to evidence of the crimes committed. In a recent interview with the Courier, Brian Fuhrman sat down to discuss Valley View Home’s (VVH) future and recent difficulties. As president of the VVH board of directors, Fuhrman is hoping to alleviate concerns of the home’s recent woes and uncertain future through an upcoming board strategic planning meeting set in September. Valley County Attorney Dylan Jensen filed amended charges against 22-year-old Kain Mitchell Hirsch-Hall in district court on Monday, Aug. 15. Hirsch-Hall has been charged with one count of felony sexual assault and one count of felony sexual intercourse without consent. Initial charges against Hirsch-Hall included three separate counts of sexual crimes against two separate victims, both who were less than 12-years-old at the time of the alleged incidents. The Jeff Jurgens Memorial Youth Basketball Tournament Scholarship Committee has awarded four $1500 scholarships to the following students: Delaney Beil, daughter of Keith and Myla Beil A 2016 graduate of Hinsdale High School, Delaney Beil will be attending MSU – Northern to pursue a degree in nursing. At the regularly-scheduled Glasgow School Board meeting held Aug. 17, the district’s trustees were questioned about the hiring process for the position of head boys basketball coach. When the time came for the board to approve hires as recommended by the school’s activity director, Brenner Flaten, one of which was to hire Norm Braaten as the head boys basketball coach, one of the applicants for the position asked to be heard. With last year's Paint Run/Walk being such a hit, Glasgow High School student council and G-club have decided they will continue it as an annual tradition. The 2nd Annual Paint Run/Walk will be on Aug. 20 at 9 a.m. Early registration will start at 8 a.m. and the run/walk will start at the Glasgow Civic Center. This year's Laser Regatta will kick off on Friday, Aug. 19, at the Fort Peck Marina. The festivities will begin with a dryland presentation on the water practices, followed by dinner. The Valley County C.A.R.E. coalition recently held a townhall meeting at the hospital to discuss the results of a survey they conducted this April. The survey was conducted with the purpose of asking questions about healthcare and how to improve access to it, as well as other questions about our general wellbeing. The Make-A-Wish Foundation recently sent Nikolas "Nik" Herman, the son of Mike and Denise Herman, along with close friend Benjamin "Benji" Phillips to Chicago, Ill. In a continuing legal battle over money, Judge John C. McKeon heard arguments in an ongoing restitution case against the Dan Burns Estate. Burns was convicted of felony sexual abuse of children in 2009, and died in prison in 2014. Following his death, Maugeen McGrath-Stark filed a civil suit against the estate on behalf of her child seeking payment of court-ordered restitution.
