    The Glasgow Job Service Employers' Committee board (JSEC) has selected Ezzie's Wholesale, Inc. as it's Outstanding Large Employer. In a press release, the board says it was convinced based on the level of customer service provided by Ezzie's employees at both locations in town, as they go above and beyond for those who need additional assistance.   • Milk River Bridge at Nashua to Close for Repairs

    Riverside Contracting and subcontractor Sletten Construction will be making repairs to the Milk River Bridge south of Nashua. To begin the repairs, the northbound lane of Highway 117 at the Milk River Bridge will be closing on Tuesday, July 11, at 8 a.m. During the closure, only single-lane traffic with loads less than 10 feet in width will be allowed across the bridge until the entire bridge work is completed.   • GPD Offers Treats Coupons for Safe Driving

    The Glasgow Police Department has partnered with McDonald’s, Flips and Dairy Queen of Glasgow, to make coupons for free ice cream cones available for officers to reward kids they notice making good decisions. Earlier this spring, Lieutenant Trint Gamas approached the department about an incentive program for kids found to be safely and appropriately seated in car seats.   • Preventative Measures in Place at the Pines

    With the continued dry conditions and lack of rain, the Fort Peck Pines Recreational Area is seeing an increase in local, state and federal firefighters being dispatched to remove the overabundance of vegetation. For the second year in a row, volunteers are using chainsaws, mowers and wood chippers to reduce the risk of wildfires in the area.     Local divers Joyce and Ryan Stone would like to remind area boaters and visitors to our summertime fishing and sailing competitions at Fort Peck Lake, to please keep an eye out for red and white "Diver Down" flags, indicating the nearby presence of a diver under the surface of the water.     On June 26, Senator Jon Tester announced 55 Montana counties, including Valley County, will receive $31.8 million in Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) for 2017. PILT payments help local governments carry out vital services such as firefighting and police protection, construction of public schools and roads, and search-and-rescue operations.     On June 24, Governor Bullock issued an Executive Order declaring a drought emergency for various counties, including Valley and Roosevelt. The counties under this emergency have seen record low precipitation, high temperatures and excessive winds over the past two months. These conditions have deteriorated crop and forage viability.     With Northeast Montana experiencing its worst drought on record for June, the need to be extremely cautious with fire, fireworks and other fire hazards has grown substantially this summer.     Valley County Commissioners had an eventful discussion and decision meeting on June 21. During the meeting, they approved a couple of bids and the appointment of individuals to various county boards. The first bid the commissioners approved was a bid by Perfect 10 Roofing to rebuild the roof on the Courthouse.     Changes made to the city ordinance concerning fireworks will make life easier for both citizens and officers around Glasgow on July 4. The change allows citizens to fire off their fireworks from 12:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., between July 3 and July 5, and also allows for New Year’s celebration fireworks from 12:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., on Dec. 31.     The Flatland Cruisers Car Club put on their yearly Father's Day Show 'n Shine car show at the Elk's Lodge on June 18.     With remodeling done to their c-store and gas station, Ezzie’s will be holding a grand opening on June 28 to celebrate its completion and showcase the new store to customers.     In 1957, brothers Darrell and Gene Morehouse opened the doors to their new sporting goods store. Originally located at the site of Holly and Co. in downtown Glasgow, they moved to their present location on 2nd Ave in 1962.
