American Express and Main Street America announced on June 25 the 500 small business owners who have been awarded $10,000 through the Backing Small Businesses grant program. The Department of the Interior has announced more than 1,900 state and local governments around the country will receive a total of $621.2 million in Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funding for 2024. Valley County is expected to receive $984,349 of the total $43,301,694 secured in Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILT) funds to support critical law enforcement, firefighting, and infrastructure priorities across Montana. Martin, who was a longtime superintendent for the school district. Martin passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home of congestive heart failure. Attorney General Austin Knudsen has announced appointments to the Montana Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force. The task force’s main goals are to break down jurisdictional barriers and identify causes that contribute to missing and murdered Indigenous persons. The Nemont Manor Foundation presented $50,000 in grants on June 11 to 10 organizations that benefit the Valley County community. The US Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Peck is seeking any information regarding the recent vandalism that took place at Kiwanis Park. Several structures were spray painted including a cement picnic table and a large playground.
