Before going, I thought it would merely be formal event with contestants having little ability to express themselves. I found out otherwise. Already struggling to fill open positions, the Nashua School received and accepted five new resignations at the June 2 school board meeting, bringing the total of recent resignations to eight. In addition, the school has been searching for more than a year for both a music teacher and a special education teacher. In January of 2015, the City of Glasgow contracted with Land Solutions, LLC to prepare a Downtown Revitalization Plan. The plan launched the creation of a downtown association or revitalization group in an effort to facilitate that plan. Glasgow Public Works Director Rob Kompel and Mayor Becky Erickson recently provided details on a paving project set to begin Monday, June 6, and run for up to two weeks. The project is Glasgow’s first major paving and chip-sealing project in two years and will cost up to $300,000. “Our current focus is those streets in dire need,” said Erickson. Abigail Helland, 20 of Glasgow, is one of 11 competing for the title of Miss Montana in Glendive June 9-11 at 7 p.m. nightly at the DCHS auditorium. After graduating valedictorian from GHS in 2014, she has been attending MSU Bozeman majoring in psychology. She received the Governors Best & Brightest Scholarship and served as a Mont. Chief of Police Bruce Barstad would like to again remind the Glasgow community to make sure their lawns and weedy lots in the city of Glasgow are well kept and mowed. Valley View nursing home (VVH) is a long-term care facility in Glasgow that provides the region with an invaluable community service. Recently, the facility received a troubling quality assurance review by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS). The latest incarnation of the Milk River Motorsports Demolition Derby saw increases in both attendance and participation on May 28 at the Valley County fairgrounds. News of the recent termination of Jon Kolstad's contract as Glasgow High School's head girls basketball coach left unanswered questions. Efforts by interested parties to clarify the termination with school board trustees were initially unsuccessful. Some answers eventually came to light with a letter sent to GHS from the Montana High School Association (MHSA) on April 27, 2016. The Pioneer Museum of Valley County recently launched a sizable expansion adding over 5000 square feet to the museum in brand new exhibit space. The new annex seeks to recreate Glasgow's Main Street, circa 1915; a "hot time" in Glasgow's history according to Dave Pippin, former Valley County commissioner and current chair of the Valley County Museum Board. The Glasgow School Board held both their organizational meeting and their regular meeting May 11 at the central office, with 13 people in attendance.
