Guttenberg’s Apple Trolley has moved next-door to Albertsons on Highway 2 into the space formerly occupied by The Worx. The Glasgow-City County Library hosted their weekly story-time at Valley View Home on Dec. 7. Early Saturday morning firefighters responded to an incident at Nemont Manor. The fire originated from a faulty furnace located in the basement. Although it was quickly extinguished, the smoke from the small blaze filled the building's basement and most of the lobby. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire but due to the smoke several residents were evacuated from the premises while the smoke cleared. Local Girl Scout Brownies (ages 8-9) from Troop 2244 sought to broaden their understanding of their home state by earning the State of Montana Badge over the past few weeks. The endeavor included studying up on the states geography by reading maps and identifying places such as the State Capital, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks and even the Continental Divide. Christmas is coming, and nowhere more so than Saco, Mont. According to Heidi Pippin, Santa, hay rides, ice skating, hot soup/chili, hot chocolate/cider, and adult beverages are all on offer at the Hi-Line community festivities scheduled for Dec. 16. A date has been set for the Tallow Creek Christmas Program after lots of consultation, according to Sierra Stoneberg-Holt. On Nov. 20, George Alberda and Joe Braaksma from Grace Bible Church in Bozeman, made the drive to northeast Montana to pick up boxes for Operation Christmas Child at the Glasgow Evangelical Church. Glasgow was one of three stops for Alberda and Braaksma, as they also stopped in Havre and Sidney before making their way back to Bozeman. A number of years ago, Lustre’s Jason and Stephanie Brown traveled to Haiti to adopt twins, and in the process met a young man by the name of Sandro, who was translating for the adoption agency. Area residents got a chance to check out the 79-feet-tall Christmas tree bound for the U.S. Capitol Mall. The tree's escort made a stop at the Valley Event Center in Glasgow on Nov. 17. Local man William Kratzer was arrested Nov. 14 west of Glasgow. According to County Attorney Dylan Jensen, Kratzer has been charged with felony strangulation of a partner or family member. He was released Nov. 16 on a $25,000 bond with court dates pending. The 13th Annual Festival of Trees on Nov. 17 and 18, was a huge success! There were a record number of entries, 140 people were served at the Prime Rib dinner and more money was raised than ever at the auction. The Senior Citizen’s Center in Glasgow is once again hosting the Valley County Thanksgiving Day dinner. Don’t be confused by the venue. This is a community dinner and all are invited. The time is set for Nov. 23, from noon to 2 p.m., at 328 4th Street South. Over the past 26 years, almost 4,500 people have enjoyed the event. Montana Department of Transportation Director Mike Tooley announced on Nov. 16 that MDT is scrapping the Grass Range round-a-bout project.
