After longtime Valley County Attorney Nick Murnion left his position to become Montana's 16th Judicial District Judge, the position has now been filled. Dylan Jensen, deputy attorney for Valley County, was appointed with a 3-0 vote by the county commissioners. Casey Moore, a public defender for Montana, was the other applicant interviewed. There was a heck of a turnout at the official opening ceremony for the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial Park on July 4. Glasgow Boy Scout Troop 861 spent the Independence Day Weekend serving food at both the John Hahn Memorial Softball Tournament and the dedication ceremony for the Northeast Montana Veteran's Memorial in Fort Peck. The Scouts are hoping to raise the funds necessary to take the six-man troop on a week-long canoeing expedition in the Minnesota Boundary Waters during the summer of 2017. Angie Frost had worked for Valley View Home (VVH) as the Dietary Manager for over two years when she was unexpectedly let go the week of June 14th. Personnel changes again dominated the regularly-scheduled school board meeting held in Nashua on June 21. The Nature Conservancy recently secured a conservation easement on 15,959 acres of land north of Glasgow on the Carroll ranch. The easement, which encompasses all of the private lands along the northern border of the Bitter Creek Wilderness Study Area, will help conserve of one of the most intact grasslands on the continent. The Valley County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Robert J. Willenborg, 59, of Buena Vista, Colo. Valley County Search & Rescue assisted in the removal of Willenborg’s vehicle, a white pickup truck, from the Missouri River near Boy Scout Park, where it was discovered submerged by a local boater on June 12.
