Glasgow's Headstart children brought holiday cheer to local senior citizens during the lunch hour at the Senior Citizens' Center on Dec. 21. Children sang songs such as "Twinkle Twinkle" and "Jingle Bells," bringing smiles to all in attendance. Valley County Sheriff's Office reported the recovery of a stolen vehicle the evening of Dec. 23, in Nashua. After noticing the suspicious vehicle on Saturday evening, the Valley County deputy ran the license plate and identified the vehicle as a stolen car out of Plentywood. While the vehicle was parked at a Nashua residence, the deputy surveilled the vehicle until the driver, Angela Sorenson, returned. Nashua's Joel Novak was appointed fire chief of the Nashua Fire Department at the fire hall on Dec. 19. He is heading into his fifth year with the department. Several local businesses have teamed up to promote literacy and good eats in Glasgow with a community book and chocolate swap. On Sat, Dec. 23, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Sean R. Heavey Gallery, you can participate in Glasgow’s very own Book and Chocolate Swap. The Glasgow Police Department is investigating a combined theft and act of vandalism reported Dec. 16 at Scottie Carwash on Highway 2 in Glasgow. According to the report, the incident occurred sometime between Dec. 15 and 16. The GPD’s Brien Gault told us that two inflatable Minion decorations were stolen by two individuals in a dark-colored vehicle with four doors. The individuals also damaged other seasonal decorations. Junior Katie Kaiser has taken over the reins of Glasgow's Snack-Pack program, which supplies healthy snacks and foods to students in need, specifically on days when children are not in school. The program, established by Morgan Guttenberg in 2016, helps the growing problem of childhood hunger in our area. On Oct. 28, local eighth-grader Kyler Hallock received a distinguished honor when he was presented the first ever Heroism Award at the American Legion's fall conference in Helena. Hallock was recognized for actions taken during the bus crash that occurred on Sept. 19, at the rest stop between Glasgow and Hinsdale. On Dec. 8, volunteers from Glasgow High School student council, National Guard, Soroptomists, as well as local community members stood at the intersections of D&G and the Post Office to collect funds for Block of Bucks. A total of $30,310 was collected by the generous community, which allowed 125 families with 325 children to shop for essential clothing the following day, Dec. 9. Early Saturday morning firefighters responded to an incident at Nemont Manor. The fire originated from a faulty furnace located in the basement. Although it was quickly extinguished, the smoke from the small blaze filled the building's basement and most of the lobby. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire but due to the smoke several residents were evacuated from the premises while the smoke cleared.
