  • VC Man Killed in Vehicle Rollover Near Glasgow

    The Montana Highway Patrol reported that Daniel Rogenes was killed when he rolled his vehicle while traveling on Highway 24 South just outside Glasgow in the early morning hours on Aug. 30. The vehicle was discovered at 7:30 a.m. According to the investigating trooper David Moon, Rogenes was traveling south near mile marker 72 between Glasgow and Fort Peck in a 1999 Ford Ranger.     At their regularly-scheduled meeting on Aug. 19, the Valley County Commissioners voted unanimously to move to a mail ballot election, with the option of in-person voting, for the 2020 general election. Ballots will be mailed out for the Tuesday, Nov. 3, election on Oct. 9. Voters may vote in person at the county election office (in the Valley County Courthouse) 30 days prior to the election.     Editor’s Note: The Valley County Health Department and Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital confirmed one case of COVID-19 over the past week. As of Aug. 23, the county has three active cases with 34 recovered and 37 total cases. Case 37 is a female aged 20-29 who is not hospitalized and is isolating at home.   • Train Collides With Vehicle Near Vandalia

    The Montana Highway Patrol has told the Courier that a train struck a pick up truck at the Montfort Rd crossing south of Vandalia at about 9:10 the morning of Aug. 27. The truck was carrying only the driver, who suffered minor injuries, according to the investigating trooper, David Moon. According to Moon, the driver was traveling northbound on Montfort Rd and failed to yield for the train.     At their regular meeting on Aug. 26, the Valley County Commissioners unanimously voted to approve the recommendation from Valley County co-Fire Wardens Bob Hanson and Rob Brunelle to move the county to State I Fire Restrictions.
