As of Sept. 30, at 2:31 p.m., the County has 35 active cases, with one current hospitalization. In the latest back and forth to complete the 2020 Census amidst a pandemic, on Sept. 24, the U.S. District Court extended the deadline for the completion of the Census. The preliminary injunction, issued by U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh in the Northern District of California, requires the Census Bureau to keep trying to count the country’s residents through Oct. 31. Valley County Clerk & Recorder/Superintendent of Schools Taryn Aberg submitted her resignation letter to the county commissioners on Sept. 21. Aberg was elected to her position in 2018 and the four-year term will expire Dec. 31, 2022. The Valley County Health Department confirmed nine more cases of COVID-19 in the county over the past week. Cases 53 through 57 were announced on Sept. 18, cases 58 through 60 were announced on Sept. 20, and case 61 was announced on Sept. 22. When Glasgow resident Jack Nickels Sr. turned 85 years old, he told his daughters he thought he could make it to 100. Fifteen years later, Nickels can say he has reached that goal as he will be celebrating his birthday on Sept. 24. Born in Glasgow to Herman J.
