Nov. 1 Tori Bell and her daughter McKenna received a surprising call Oct. 20, from Make A Wish Foundation. McKenna was given her wish of a camper, provided by CamperWorld in Billings in recognition of her fight with cancer. Oct. 18 The NorVal Dinner 2024 honoring Ron Reddig was held Oct. 22, at the LCHS. The LCHS Alumni provided the meal as an Alumni Fundraiser. The New Covenant Quartet presented a special concert at the MB Church on Oct. 27. There will be an Open House "Meet-n-Greet" with Timothy and Annika Lenihan, Saturday, Nov. 9, between 7 and 9 p.m. at the Lustre MB Parsonage. Sept 27, 2024 The Lustre Jr. High Volleyball Lions hosted the Frontier School Jr High Volleyball Mustangs on Sept 21 in their last home game with the song "God's Not Dead" greeting fans. The Lions took the set 25-17, 25-17 (with the teams tying repeatedly along the way), and 15-3. The Jamboree teams split their games. Sept. 6, 2024 The LCHS held a Rest and Relaxation Day at the Fort Peck pavilion on Aug. 28. The speaker was Mr. Nathan Lu who spoke on "What's Your Spiritual Health Like?" Aug. 24, 2024 High winds and sudden rains impeded harvest efforts this week. We got 4/10 of an inch on Tuesday, in time for busses to go on muddy roads for their first day of school. The temps were in the 90s. Wednesday, Aug. 21,, the schools began with a good enrollment, 42 students in Lustre Grade School and 36 in LCHS. Aug. 16, 2024 Smoke from the forest fires in western Montana and Wyoming came in behind the cool breeze on Wednesday evening so that the smoke was evident Thursday morning. Beacon Bible Camp had 70 students (45 girls and 25 guys) for Junior High Camp July 23-28. Speakers were Brad Spalding and Dan Hovestal of Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji, Minn. The Beacon Bible Camp Annual Meeting was held on June 16, at 4:30 p.m., followed by a Father’s Day Barbecue. Fiber Optic service is due to be connected in Lustre in a couple of months for those who do not yet have it. TCH Construction of Glasgow has been working to install piping to prepare for the installation of fiber optics on Wallstreet road this week. It will provide an internet, telephone and cable all in one service, with a reliability that is not affected by weather. They will be in the area all summer, working from east to west. The Senior High Camp (incoming grades ninth through 12th graders) is being held June 9-14. Graduation was held at Lustre High School on Sunday, May 19, at 3 p.m. The processional was played by Mrs. Meridith Reddig and Pastor Justin Byers opened in prayer. The Lustre Grade School held its graduation on Wednesday, May 22, with the largest class in years of 14 students. John Dubois welcomed the large crowd and expressed gratitude for watching these students grow from fourth through eighth graders, these four years being the best in his life. The Lustre Grade School held its spring concert on May 9, at 1 p.m. The program began with a piece by the teachers, joined consecutively by the classes scattered around the auditorium. The 2024 Schmeckfest was held March 22, at the LCHS gymnasium on a 60 degree day. The walls were lined with displays of buffalo, LGS school kids’ beautiful art, quilts in honor of McKenna Bell, a student who completed her chemo treatments, and LCHS Basketball team pictures with their trophies and team ball. Dense fog covered our region until Wednesday with rain last Sunday and 26 degree temps making ice on the gravel. Warmer temperatures and clearing skies came Wednesday and Thursday.
