Glasgow High School announces a school contest for Poetry Out Loud™. On Monday, Jan. 6, more than 25 students from Glasgow High School will participate in the Poetry Out Loud school contest at The Valley County Pioneer Museum. The winner of this competition will have the opportunity to advance to the regional Poetry Out Loud contest. The Montana champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud national finals on April 28-29, in Washington, D.C., where $50,000 in awards and school stipends will be distributed. The Glasgow Chamber has announced a change to the 2019 Christmas Stroll schedule for Saturday, Dec. 7. After visiting Prairie Ridge Village, Valley Cinema and the downtown area, Santa will make a stop at Jennifer Ray’s Photography Studio, 233 4th St. S., next to the Soroptimist Thrift Store. To incentivize keeping the dollar local, the Glasgow Chamber, with participation of local businesses, is putting on a Local Little Christmas promotion. Local shoppers are asked to save their receipts for a chance to win prize baskets that include certificates from participating merchants and Chamber Big Bucks. For every $50 spent at participating businesses, one entry will be placed into the giveaway. The 29th Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 28, at Glasgow Senior Citizens Center, located at 328 4th Street South. Last year 200 folks enjoyed the dinner, and the center hopes to exceed that number this coming year. Over the past 28 years approximately 4,800 people have enjoyed the event.
