  • Free Tree Day Canceled

    It is with a heavy heart that we inform the public that there will be no Free Tree Day for 2020. The restrictions for crowd gathering prohibit us from holding this wonderful program. With the wonderful turnout we have had in the past of over 250 people, it just isn’t feasible for us to risk endangering the public, the Gumbo Gals garden club and ourselves. We will be back in 2021 to continue this program that has helped us give away almost 20,000 trees in the past 11 years. Stay safe and stay healthy.... Full story

  • First Lutheran Church Phased Re-Opening

    Beginning Sunday May 10, we are doing a phased re-opening at First Lutheran Church, following guidance from the CDC, the Governor of Montana and the ELCA Bishop of Montana. In-person worship will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, and virtual worship on KLTZ will continue at 11 a.m. Following phase one of the Governor’s plan, we are asking the most vulnerable to stay home and refrain from in-person worship, while continuing with virtual worship on KLTZ.   • Corps Of Engineers Open Multi-Use Recreation Areas

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced day-use and multi-purpose recreation areas around Fort Peck Lake are open to normal activities, following physical distancing and group limitations to reduce spread of COVID-19. The opening applies to all USACE-managed sites, such as: McGuire Creek, Nelson Creek, Devils Creek, Crooked Creek, Fourchette Bay, Bonetrail, Pines and multi-use recreation areas near Fort Peck Dam, including Kiwanis Park.     The Valley County Courthouse will be open however conducting business by phone or mail when appropriate is greatly appreciated. The Valley County Health Department is operating by appointment only. The Senior Citizen Center will remain closed until further notice. Meals on Wheels continues to operate.   • Turn In School Election Ballots By May 5

    School election ballots for Frazer and Glasgow must be turned in by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5. There is still time to place your ballot in the mail for it to arrive at the courthouse by this date. The school elections are mail-ballot elections so there will be no polling places open on the May 5 Election Day. If you prefer to drop your ballot off, the Valley County Courthouse is now open for voters. You need to take the ballot to the Valley County Clerk and Recorder’s Office.... Full story

  • CoE Modifying Ops At Rec Areas Due To Coronavirus

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced it will begin the orderly shutdown of all USACE-managed campgrounds around Fort Peck Lake to protect against the further spread of COVID-19. The Interpretive Center, powerhouse tours, group shelters, playgrounds, fishing piers and designated swim beaches at USACE-managed sites have also been closed and/or put on hold until further notice.     Effective immediately: All City of Glasgow playgrounds, including tennis and basketball courts are closed until further notice due to public health concerns. A recent study conducted by the National Institutes of Health, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that the COVID-19 virus may live on hard surfaces, like materials used for playgrounds, for up to three days.     As of March 23, public access to the Valley County Courthouse will be limited to reduce the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus to our essential services employees and to the public.
