  • I'm Concerned About Integrity Of Resource Management Plan

    David L. Pippin, Valley County Commissioner|Jun 19, 2013

My main comment on this Resource Management Plan is the integrity of this document and what it should be. Will the taxpayer and residents of the affected counties be confident with this document? Upon further examination, I find that many things were not completely done in regard to the fairness for the people who live in the Valley County area. A comparative analysis should be done to insure that this document does not infringe upon anyone’s individual civil rights, and that it preserves the cultural identity, heritage and well being of the V...

  • Commissioners Hear Complaint About Transit Rate Increase

    Samar Fay, Courier Editor|Jun 19, 2013

Harry Ratzky is protesting the decision to raise rates for rides on the Valley County Transit buses. He told the Valley County commissioners on Tuesday that he believes the increase is in violation of the Montana Civil Rights Act and probably the federal Civil Rights Act, because he has protected status as a senior and a person with a low income. The rate increase, announced May 29 in The Courier, is the first since 1997 and is to go into effect July 1. All rides in Glasgow will cost $1. The fare for seniors and children is currently 75 cents....

He was following up with two of them to ask why they chose not to bid the project. He recommended re-advertising the project with an increased length of time to complete the project to make it more desirable, saying the problem could be “nothing more than a scheduling conflict with only two potential bidders.” At Monday’s Glasgow City Council meeting, Kompel said...

  • City-County Planning Board To Be Dissolved

    Samar Fay, Courier Editor|May 1, 2013

The Valley County commissioners voted Tuesday to publish a notice of their intent to dissolve the defunct City-County Planning Board. It is a housekeeping measure to clear the old joint board off the books since the city of Glasgow has informed the county of their desire to form a new city planning board. Valley County has its own planning board. The old joint board has not met since around 2003, according to Commissioner Dave Pippin. The old City-County Planning Board was formed by a county resolution in January 1959, after the city notified...
