The Scottie football season came to an end Nov. 2 with a first round playoff loss to the Eureka Lions. In local races, Jeff Alsberg defeated Mitch Willett 60%-40% for an open seat on the Valley County Commission. The Scottie girls cross country team scored 243 points at the MHSA State Cross Country Meet Oct. 26 to take sixth place. The Glasgow boys put up 355 points in Missoula for 13th place. John "Jack" Otto Rusher, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024. He was born April 20, 1939, in Glasgow, Mont., to his loving parents John C. Rusher Jr. and Aileen S. Glasgow/Long Run Fire Department was paged the night of Oct. 7, at 11:03 p.m., to a fire at the landfill in Glasgow. Upon arrival, heavy fire was observed back in the pit. Response included five fire trucks and eight fire department personnel while Saint Marie Fire Department assisted with bringing a water tender. The 1949 blizzard was a series of storms that hit the Great Plains from January to mid-February, causing the worst winter in the region's history. Along with this storm came the birth of Kenneth Thomas Borseth on Jan. 17, 1949, in Sidney, Mont., to Ole and Jean (Bond) Borseth.
