On Aug. 6, at around 03:05 a.m., officers with the Glasgow Police Department responded to a residence on the south side of town upon receiving a report of an assault. Once officers arrived, the caller stated that the suspect, a male, had strangled his mother during an altercation. After completing the investigation, he was placed under arrest and remanded to the Valley County Detention Center for Partner/Family Member Assault and Strangulation of a Partner Family Member. Chief Deputy Reed Mesman has begun making plans with eight law enforcement agencies to train and equip a tactical team for high-risk situations. On July 5, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Eastern Montana Drug Task Force, executed two separate search warrants on two houses in Glasgow. The search warrants resulted in the arrest of two individuals for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drugs with intent to distribute. 1 Years Ago: Wednesday July 3, 2013 It would be hard to miss this railroad project. Wooden ties have been laid out along the tracks from Glasgow to Wolf Point for weeks. Motels in Glasgow are full of railroad people and derailment specialists have filled camping spaces with company RVs. The Glasgow Rodeo Committee held their Twist-A-Lime Roping event June 25 at the Cherry Creek Roping Arena. Tanner Anderson and John Graham earned first place out of 117 teams with a time of 20.11. The Glasgow Downtown Association held their first Alive at Five and Down the Dog competition on June 21. The event was hosted by Sean R. During the evening of June 17, officers with the Glasgow Police Department responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex on the north side of Glasgow. The reporting party stated that her ex-husband was attempting to break into her apartment. While the woman was on the phone with Dispatch, the male kicked in the door gaining access to the apartment. 1 Years Ago Wednesday June 26, 2013 In a unanimous decision last week, the Montana Supreme Court overturned a District Court ruling that prevented the movement of Yellowstone bison from the Fort Peck Reservation. This clears the way for about half of the bison to be taken to the Fort Belknap Reservation, which was the original plan when 61 bison were brought north last spring after five years of quarantine and testing for brucellosis. The Glasgow Reds came within a run of each game against the Richland Patriots June 22 but posted two road losses by scores of 10-9 and 11-10. Twenty-eight teams participated in the Milk River Catfish Days Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, June 3, in front of the Glasgow Elks Lodge. This tournament was 100 percent payback, and the Glasgow Chamber kicked in an additional $200 purse. First place went to Reno Shambo and Petrina Ariwite from Hays, Mont.
