The Thunder relay teams brought home three first places from the swim meet in Lewistown July 6 and 7. The Mixed 9-10 Thunder won the 100 free and the 100 medley while the GKST Mixed 15-19 claimed the top spot in the 200 free. Individually, Dayton Markle swam away with first place in the Boys 8 & Under 25 fly while Abigail Kulczyk won the Girls 15-19 50 fly. Kulczyk also took second in the 200 IM for her age group. Glasgow High School announces the hiring of Dalton Reid as the school’s new Athletic Director. Reid will assume the leadership role in August, taking over for Brenner Flaten, who spent 10 years as AD of the Scotties. Flaten was hired as the District’s Superintendent of Schools last month. During the regular City Council meeting at the beginning of June, the Glasgow City Council unanimously voted to build a new skatepark in Hoyt Park, which is the park where the new swimming pool is currently under construction at and next to Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital. We hosted our Twist A Lime Roping Saturday, June 29, put on by the Glasgow Rodeo Committee at the Cherry Creek Roping Arena. This year's event was dedicated to the memory of Larry Rhoads. Larry passed away Feb. 26, 2024. The family donated buckles to the champions. Larry helped start the Wolf Point Roping Club and was its first president in 1965. During the June 19 regular Valley County Commissioners meeting, the Commissioners unanimously passed to increase elected officials’ salaries and all permanent employee salaries by four percent. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team brought home nine first place showings from their meet in Harlem June 22 and 23. "Our swimmers looked great this weekend. "We had the best starts in the pool and were always the first ones in the water off of the starts," Head Coach Ethan Shrader said. During their regular meeting session on June 12, the Glasgow School Board approved naming the Glasgow School District Boardroom after Gary F. Martin, who was a longtime superintendent for the school district. Martin passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home of congestive heart failure.
