The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team competed in Conrad at the state swim meet Aug. 4 and 5. Going into the weekend, the team was seeded sixth in the class "A" division. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team took 32 swimmers to the divisional swim meet in Chinook July 28 and 29. Head coach Nicole Arnold characterized the weekend as "spectacular" and noted that 27 personal best times were achieved at the meet. Of the 32 swimmers that competed in Chinook, 26 advanced to the state meet in Conrad this weekend. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team will be facing some tough competition at the upcoming state swim meet. The Thunder will be competing in the Class A division against Glendive, Columbia Falls, Conrad and Big Sandy. Despite very hot temperatures throughout the meet, the team finished in fifth place, and several swimmers contributed with solid performances. Three perennial powerhouse teams, Sidney, Lewistown and Scobey, placed in the top three. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team (GKST) a.ka. "The Thunder" is ready for another season in the sun. Prior to even getting in the water, swim team representatives were on hand to give the city pool its annual makeover. John Kulczyk, Ann Kulczyk, Melani Vandall and Michelle Huntsman, all parents of Thunder swimmers, spent one weekend prepping the pool to be filled. From one corner of the state to the another, the Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder traveled nearly 500 miles to Hamilton for the state swim meet July 30 and 31.
